Zed is like an atom bomb,  an evil necessity that most would want to keep hidden away unless absolutely necessary. He is evil at it's finest and the most sinister of all assets. Not much is known of his origin. He has been locked away in an agency basement going through server after sever, mainframe after mainframe, exacting as much useful data as he deems fit. He sees thing we can't see, things we shouldn't see. You definitely want him on your side. He is the team leader of this defense protocol. All other information on him is need to know. Most of the time, if you asked, you'd be told, you don't want to know.
