DJR Behind the Scenes Torrent (2017)
Torrent (2017) Behind the Scenes
The Production

Here is a look at what went down Behind the Scenes on D.J. Rivera's Directorial Debut, Torrent.

Here is a look at the VFX THAT wENT INTO MAKING TORRENt.

Everything that could go wrong did on this no budget Indie, set in the not too distant future. Location issues, lack of crew, actor issues, missing props, effect problems, and anything else you think could happen on a film shoot., happened. The script was constantly adapted by D.J. Rivera to fit the story, but still work with what he had. The idea was to stay true to the story, just take an alternate route to get to the finish line.

After working around the clock as well as days off and free time, 3 long years of preparation & production, 2 grueling years in Post Production. and Torrent was  completed. Great dedication to all that stuck with this great production. To those that did not, do we have your attention yet?

Here is a look AT THE VOICES OF TORRENT.

D.J. Rivera spent the better part of a year learning all the tricks he could in the Post Production process, including mastering his skills in advance cutting techniques, VFX, Title Design, and sound design. Devoting all his free time to the finished product, shows in the smooth pacing of the film. It is one visually stimulating ride of a cyber thriller.

The Praetorian Network, the fictional terrorist group in the film is inspired by the writer, director, producer's first encounter with the cyber thriller genre. The Net, starring Sandra Bullock, a 90's film where Sandra Bullock's life is stolen by a group called The Praetorians.

Torrent (2017) Behind the Scenes

Justin Quinn was not the original actor cast as The Tech Mogul. The original actor that was cast felt after the rewrite that he didn't have the range or skill to bring the character to life. Luckily Amber Watson had suggested Justin as they were acquaintances in an acting class. Justin came on board and didn't waste any time making the character his own.

Only one scene in the film had a crew of more then ten people (Chariot's scene). Every other scene in the film was done with a skeleton crew. Most of the department heads played several different roles on the film.

While many members of the crew  were concerned with finding a way to have Justin breathe in the water boarding scene. Mr. Quinn wanted it to be as real as possible. With the director's go ahead, we violated Castor's rights, the right to breathe that is. Justin was fine in the end and the scene came out great.

The cast of Torrent is very talented. Some of them can be seen in such hit TV shows as Swamp Murders, Devious Maids, Vampire Diaries, and The Originals. The people behind the scenes have worked with companies such as Sony, National Geographic, ESPN, Warner Brothers, and 20th Century Fox.

After a mixup with the proprietor on a location, D.J. made a compromise that saw the proprietors office completely emptied. D.J. went old school with an empty room, two actors, and one light. The shots and performance do the rest. A true test that pays off in the final cut of Siren;s Scene with Castor. Justiin's poise and Amber's powerful demeanor helped complete this fierce display of control.
